Microsoft Castroville Campus: SAT89/SAT90
Overview
Microsoft’s Castroville campus is a hyperscale data-center project in Medina County, west of San Antonio. TYPE3’s map data names the site SAT89/SAT90, lists Microsoft Corporation as operator, and records a construction status. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s Architectural Barriers record for “SAT89/90 Data Center” identifies Microsoft as owner, gives the address as 2995 US Highway 90 West in Castroville, and describes two single-story data-center buildings with approximately 489,400 square feet of gross building area.
The same TDLR record lists a $765 million estimated cost, a June 2025 start date, and a July 31, 2027 completion date. Its “Review Complete” status describes the registered project’s review state; it does not mean the buildings are complete or online. Microsoft’s November 2025 County Road 381 update separately says construction work was continuing and provides construction access and work-hour information.
TYPE3’s 150 MW power figure is explicitly an unconfirmed estimate. Microsoft’s regional page identifies datacenters in Bexar and Medina counties, supporting regional presence without confirming a precise SAT89/SAT90 MW figure. The address, regulatory project name, two-building scope, and construction timeline distinguish this campus from Microsoft’s older San Antonio facilities. Current evidence supports a defined project under construction, not an operating campus or a published site load.

This state sits outside ERCOT and outside the survey. Sponsoring one funds the work of charting it — pulling its interconnection queue, large loads, and price data onto the map.
